Arts & culture

Every child has a unique spark.

Sometimes it just takes the right environment to bring it to light. Circle builds the room, the stage, and the time to practise.

    01

    Kehrein Center for the Arts

A restored theatre on the Circle campus giving Austin a stage of its own: performances, rehearsals, and a room big enough for the whole neighborhood.

    02

    Creative Writing & film

Students are invited to imagine new worlds, invent characters, and tell the stories that matter most to them. Several have turned that into dozens of original stop-motion films.

    03

    Sistema Ravinia orchestra

Through its partnership with Sistema Ravinia, Catalyst is home to one of the largest African American elementary school orchestras in the nation.

Tariq, a filmmaker in Circle's Creative Writing program

    Filmmaker, storyteller

    Meet Tariq.

Tariq sees the world differently, and that is his superpower. A creative thinker with a gift for unconventional solutions, he approaches every challenge with curiosity.

Partnering with his classmate Sincere, the two have built dozens of original stop-motion films, 100 to 300 individual images per video, complete with sound effects and dialogue. Every film is hours of patience and collaboration.

Inspired by films like Kubo and the Two Strings, he’s pushing his craft further with every project. What began as an after-school activity has become a path forward.

Bring a young artist to Circle.

Our after-school and summer programs have space for students who want a stage, a studio, or a camera.
